In MMA, fighters are often defined by how they cope when a tough circumstance knocks them down. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a southwest diamond hoping to make the most of his second chance in the ultra competitive Flyweight division. A professional since February 2011 and representing Jackson-Wink MMA, 26 year old Joby Sanchez owns a 11-2 record in thirteen career bouts consisting of four knockouts, four submissions and three decisions.
In his MMA debut, Joby defeated Matt Madrid via TKO in round three. Then he submitted Ron White in the second round via rear naked choke. Joby also tapped out Daniel Armendariz via rear naked choke in round two at King of the Cage Night Stalker. At XFC 20 High Octane, he submitted Chris Dunn via triangle choke in the first round. Joby defeated Eric Moell via TKO in round one at XFC 25 Boiling Point. He defeated Antonio Banuelos via TKO in the second round. At UFN 59 in Boston, Joby defeated Tateki Matsuda via split decision. Following his UFC release he submitted Martin Sandoval in the second round via brabo choke at Global Knockout 7. Joby followed this up with a split decision victory over Jesus Urbina. In the inaugural Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series event, Joby defeated Manny Vazquez via unanimous decision. At Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series 7 he defeated Jp Buys via TKO in the second round and earned a return trip to the UFC in the process. Joby is a prime example of what can happen when you put the hard work in to chase your dreams!
