UFC 181 MEDICAL SUSPENSIONS

UFC 181 last weekend put on quite a show this past  Saturday in Las Vegas Nevada, headlined by not just one but two title fights. However, now it is time assess the damage that was done. The Nevada Athletic Commission on Monday released its list of medical suspensions from UFC 181. Anthony Pettis successfully defeated his belt for the first time against Gilbert Melendez putting on a spectacular performance earning the fight of the night bonus, defeating Melendez in the second round. Pettis could now be looking at being out up to 6 months depending on a left hand X-ray. Johny Hendricks took on “The ruthless” Robbie Lawler in hopes of defending his Welterweight belt but however was unsuccessful losing the belt in a split decision loss. Hendricks will now be suspended until January 6th with no contact until December 28th. Urijah Faber had a controversial win in the prelims, after an eye poke went unnoticed by the referee that quickly led to a submission win over Riveria. Riveria will be suspended until June 6th for a laceration on left eye or until cleared by an ophthalmologist. Josh Samman earned himself a performance of the night with a brutal head kick knocking Eddie “The Truck” Gordon out cold. Eddie Gordon must pass a post-concussive clearance from a neurologist or sports medicine doctor prior to starting contact training.

UFC 181 Medical Suspensions

Johny Hendricks: Suspended until Jan. 6 with no contact until Dec. 28th.

Anthony Pettis: Must have left hand X-rayed; if positive, or until receives clearance by a doctor or no contest until June 6.

Brendan Schaub: Suspended until Feb. 5 with no contact until Jan. 21st for upper lip laceration.

Todd Duffee: Suspended until Jan. 6th with no contact until Dec. 28th for forehead laceration.

Anthony Hamilton: Suspended until Jan. 21st with no contact until Jan. 6 for forehead laceration.

Tony Ferguson: Suspended until Jan. 21st with no contact until Jan. 6th for forehead laceration.

Abel Trujillo: Must have fractured nose cleared by doctor or no contest until June 6th.

Francisco Rivera: Must have left eye abrasion cleared by an ophthalmologist or no contest until June 6th.

Eddie Gordon: Must have a post-concussive clearance from a neurologist or sports medicine doctor prior to starting contact training, with a minimum suspension until March 7th with no contact until Feb. 5th.

Raquel Pennington: Suspended until Jan. 21st with no contact until Dec. 28 for forehead laceration.

Sergio Pettis: Suspended until Jan. 6th with no contact until Dec. 28th.

Matt Hobar: Suspended until Jan. 6th with no contact until Dec. 28th for left eye hematoma.

Clay Collard: Must have left forearm cleared by an orthopedic doctor or no contest until June 6th with a minimum suspension until Jan. 6 with no contact until Dec. 28th.
