Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley wants his chance

I think it’s fair to see Paul Daley isn’t exactly happy with his Bellator career at the moment, judging from his social media comments over the weekend.

Daley has just messaged me this:

“6-2-0 in Bellator, those losses coming from the former and current Welterweight champion.

Granted Rory fought the right fight against me, and admittedly I feel the occasion of fighting one of MMA’s P4P got the better of me”

This text from my BJJ coach Lee Bown sums up our position exactly….”Interesting fight, Lima was breaking Rory standing, where you got Lima in trouble and forced him to shoot in last round! That ref helped Lima a couple of times in the early rounds with the stand ups too. Definitely proved you are in that top 3 with Rory & Lima ??”

Daley also added this:

“I will give Lorenz Larkin a re-match granted he wins his fight at the end of this month vs Fernando Gonzalez, I feel we will win the re-match, then I’m happy to sit and wait for what I feel will be a deserved title shot at the winner of Lima vs MacDonald rematch”

Daley is referring to his losses in Bellator to Douglas Lima and Rory MacDonald. Daley also referenced his win over Larkin who came over to Bellator with much fanfare from the UFC.

If Daley does fight Larkin again and repeats his previous win, it would be hard to deny him his chance at Bellator gold.

Rory MacDonald overnight beat Douglas Lima to win the Bellator Welterweight Title.
