BREAKING! Jack Shore gets title shot in huge Cardiff event

Cage Warriors announce CW97 for September 29th at the Ice Arena Wales in Cardiff, breaking huge new ground for Welsh MMA. Unbeaten super prospect Jack Shore will face the winner of this weekend’s CW94 bantamweight title fight between Brian Bouland and Ilia Topuria.

In a massive move for mixed martial arts in the region, Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan has announced that the promotion will make the step up to Cardiff’s incredible Ice Arena for their next Welsh outing. Headlining the card will be Jack ‘Tank’ Shore, still unbeaten in 12 amateur and 8 professional showings, as he fights for the world bantamweight title in the biggest MMA event the country has ever seen.

Boylan said: “When our previous Welsh champions went for the belts, they were some of the most memorable nights we’ve had in 15 years. But Jack Shore has managed to assemble a Welsh fanbase on a level we’ve never really seen before. Think McGregor in Dublin – this is going to be massive.”

Shore will face a newly crowned champion to be decided this Saturday at CW94 in Antwerp, when Belgium’s Brian Bouland faces submission specialist Ilia Topuria for the belt. Both men have signed contracts to face Shore on September 29th should they become champion.

“Bouland and Topuria are elite level, and winning the Cage Warriors title means one of them is the best in Europe,” says Shore. “I need to take that from them in order to prove that spot belongs to me. I’ll be in Antwerp this weekend watching very closely.

The atmosphere when I walk out to fight in Wales is like nothing else, and now Cage Warriors are raising the game. Fighting for the title in a historic event like this means everything to me.”

Wales has been producing some of the biggest names in fight sports for years, and Jack Shore is the newest name rising into the national spotlight. Shore is not only a long-time training partner of UFC welterweight and ex-Cage Warriors champion Jack Marshman, but is also trained by Gary Lockett, elite boxing coach and former teammate of Welsh boxing legend Joe Calzaghe. The title Shore hopes to raise for the home crowd at CW97 was formerly held by Welshman and now UFC bantamweight Brett Johns, who became champion during Cage Warriors’ last visit to Cardiff in 2013.

With some of the most legitimate names in Welsh fight sports surrounding Shore in the lead up to CW97, this young prospect will have more than just his thousands of loyal fans on his side come September 29th.

To find out who Jack Shore will face for the belt in Cardiff, tune into the CW94 main event between Brian Bouland and Ilia Topuria this Saturday the 16th. CW94’s main card will be broadcast live on BT Sport 1 and UFC FightPass from 8pm BST.
